  • 2nd National Communication to United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (2010)

    • Turkey’s 2nd National Communication to UNFCCC on Climate Change will be prepared and submitted to Board on Climate Change.

  • UN Joint Programme on Enhancing the Capacity of Turkey to Adapt

    • Timeline: June 2008 - June 2011

    • Budget: 7,000,000 USD

    • In order to establish the necessary strategies and enhance institutional capacity for Turkey to combat and manage the eff ects of climate change, a United Nations Joint Programme titled “Enhancing the Capacity of Turkey to Adapt to Climate Change” was initiated.

     

                 

  • Capacity Building for Climate Change Management in Turkey

    • Timeline: January 2009 - June 2010

    • Budget: 400,000 USD

    • Aim of projects;

    • To facilitate effective engagement of Turkey in international climate change policy dialogue, focusing on post-Kyoto after 2012.
      To support the Government of Ttrrkey in establishing necessary structures to benefit from emission trading mechanisms through Voluntary
      Carbon Market.
      To further develop human capacities of the relevant stakeholders for efficient participation in the international negotiations and carbon
      markets.
      The project will increase the national governmental capacity to participate and negotiate in the UNFCCC process, in particular thc development of position of the country under the post 2012 climate change regime, and Turkey as a whole to participate efficiently in the Voluntary Carbon Markets (VCMs). The goal of the project is to support these objectives by expanding the knowledge base on specific climate change issues of the relevant stakeholders, developing proposals for alternatives for changing the status of the country under the UNFCCC and the Kyoto Protocol, and proposals for VCM's structures. As a result of this project, the capacity of the country will be strengthened to maximise its participationwithin international climate negotiations and carbon markets.

     

     

                     

  • Developing Turkey’s National Climate Change Action Plan

    • Timeline: January 2009 - March 2010
    • Budget: 307,220 USD
    • The main objective of the “Developing Turkey’s National Climate Change Action Plan Project” is to develop a robust, comprehensive, and integrated action plan, which sets out Turkish policy, to be submitted to the National Coordination Board of Climate Change. The overall aim of the National Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan is to tackle climate change by identifying national actions for limitation of greenhouse gas emissions, building resilience through managing impacts, thus encouraging mitigation and adaptation to climate change in Turkey. 

                        

  • 1st National Communication to United Nation Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)

    • Timeline: August 2005 - October 2006
    • Budget: 445,000 USD
    • Turkey’s 1st National Communication to UNFCCC on Climate Change has been prepared and submitted to Board on Climate Change. 
  • Global Environmental Facility National Dialogue I and II

    • Timeline: 2006 -2009
    • Budget: 70,000 USD
    • 1st National Dialogue workshop was organized in 2006 to inform all related public institutions, NGOs, municipalities and universities in Turkey about Global Environment Facility (GEF). The aim of the workshop was to determine Turkey’s priorities in the areas of climate change and biodiversity, in compliance with the implemented ‘Resource Allocation Framework’ system. 2nd National Dialogue was held in Ankara, Plaza Hotel on 25-26 May 2009. As a GEF implementing agency UNDP supported the workshop processes.
